As if one project for the new year (New project: Eagle Emulator) isn't enough, I've also come to the conclusion that I need more space for the collection. Hence the proposed addition of a Large Systems Room to the VAXbarn.
This room will house all Supercomputers, and a few other large systems. In the picture above, from left to right, these are Sun Fire 6800, IBM 360 Model 65 (original panel mounted on mock-up cabinet), DEC AlphaServer 8200, Convex C1 XP, Convex C1 XL, Intel iPSC/860, Ardent Titan, IBM AS/400 9406-720, SGI Onyx2 Deskside, a 2-cabinet, 32 cpu Convex SPP-1600 I hope to acquire this year, and 3 DEC 4000 AXPs. I also expect to put 4 19" racks with various systems in this room, and two display cabinets with various artefacts in them.
The new room will be located where we currently have our car garage, a space that's not suitable for the collection now because of the moisture and a leaky roof. I need to finish some rooms in our house and build a carport before I start working on this, but my new-years resolution is to have this all finished by the end of 2017.
